UC White Mountain Research Center is seeking to fill the following position(s) for 2026:
Cook to prepare meals for visiting groups of college students and research scientists. The position lasts from mid-April through October at our Owens Valley Station, located 4 miles east of 395 at 3000 East Line Street, Bishop.
Compensation is $21.43-$28.28/hr, 40 hrs./wk. with partial benefits and shift differential.
Professional development offered: CPR training, Food Handler’s Certification
Responsibilities include:
- Plan menus, order food/supplies, and prepare meals for groups of 15 to 50 people.
- Maintain order and cleanliness in the kitchen and dining area
- Ensure an excellent dining experience for visiting researchers and classes
Required Skills:
Skill and experience in creating high-quality, high-volume meals
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Reliability and flexibility
Good at budgeting
Basic computer skills
Valid CA driver’s license and a good driving record
Catering, restaurant, or field station cooking experience preferred
